Southwest Airlines to start service to Hawaii

Southwest Airlines has recently announced it will begin service to Hawaii on March 17th with an inaugural flight from Oakland, CA (OAK) to Honolulu, HI (HNL), followed by another flight from Oakland to Kahului, HI (OGG) on April 7th.

With island-inspired drinks and snacks, the airline will provide gate-to-gate connectivity on WiFi-enabled aircraft, 100% free inflight entertainment and movies (through the Southwest app), free live TV (when available), and free messaging (through iMessage and WhatsApp).

Southwest’s initial phase services are:

  • Oakland to Honolulu: once daily, starting on March 17
  • Honolulu to Oakland: once daily, beginning on March 18
  • *Starting on March 24, the route will be flown twice daily in each direction
  • Oakland to Kahului: once daily, beginning on April 7
  • Kahului to Oakland: once daily starting on April 8
  • *Starting on April 10, the route will be flown twice daily in each direction
  • Honolulu and Kahului (Interisland service): beginning on April 28, four times daily in each direction
  • San Jose to Honolulu: once daily in each direction, starting on May 5
  • Honolulu and Kona (Interisland service): begins May 12, four times daily in each direction
  • San Jose to Kahului: once daily in each direction, starting on May 26
