Hotel brands are expanding into new international markets

From pristine locations to Shakespeare’s hometown – Hard Rock, Hyatt Regency, Glo, Kimpton, Secrets and Hotel Indigo are making their first entrance into many different countries.

  • Hard Rock: Barcelona, Spain
  • On the last available seaside plot in Barcelona, the Hard Rock International will bring its musical flair to 504 rooms in 2022.
  • Guestrooms will have private balconies overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The hotel will offer a rooftop terrace and bar with swimming pool, two specialty restaurants, lobby bar with grab-and-go and music bar.
  • Hyatt Regency: Lisbon, Portugal
  • The Hyatt Regency Lisbon will be the first Hyatt branded hotel in the country. Facing the Tejo River and with 200 hotel rooms and apartments, the property is expected to open in late 2020.
  • It will offer a wide range of intuitive facilities, including a spa, a swimming pool, a rooftop terrace bar with views over the river, as well as a courtyard and garden.
  • Glo: Ottawa, Canada
  • Glo Kanata Ottawa West is a boutique hotel with 69 rooms. The hotel is located a few miles from the Canadian Tire Center (home to the NHL’s Ottawa Senators), in close range to the downtown area and to the Rideau Canal, Parliament Hill, Canadian Museum of History and ByWard Market.
  • Kimpton: Glasgow, Scotland
  • The first Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants in Glasgow has 113 rooms and suites that offer a sense of warm sophistication with marble bathrooms, luxury amenities, natural light and a refined design.
  • Bo & Birdy at Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel is the newest Kimpton restaurant and bar globally: an elegant dining room where diners can enjoy the best of Scottish ingredients in a relaxed, informal setting.
  • Secrets Resort & Spas: Mallorca, Spain
  • Secrets Mallorca Villamil Resort & Spa is located in the town of Peguera. With 162 renovated rooms and suites, and views of the Mediterranean Sea, selected suites will include direct access to a new, exclusive swim-up pool. Guests can also enjoy the addition of two sunrooms, including one reserved for Preferred Club guests.
  • Hotel Indigo: Stratford-upon-Avon, England
  • Located at the birthplace of William Shakespeare, the hotel has 93 guestrooms with designs inspired by the history of the local neighborhood. A combination of classic English materials (wool and raw wood), antique furniture pieces and modern fixtures celebrates the past with a modern twist. Throughout the property, guests will find a carefully curated selection of contemporary artwork, murals and 3D artifacts inspired by Shakespeare. The hotel guestrooms have three designs:
  • – The Tudor Rooms: display the tradition of the 16th century building and offer a path to the past, with views of Shakespeare’s New Place (his residential home in later life)
  • – The Georgian Townhouse: inspired by Shakespeare’s Theatre, it combines a touch of luxury with homely charm
  • – The Contemporary Rooms: offer a sophisticated and elegant design drawing from its more recent 20th century past
